INDEX

Choose the material closest to what you hold

These are review categories, not a catalogue of everything manufactured. If a reel does not fit neatly into one of them — a mixed pallet, an unlabelled spool, a construction someone described to you over the phone — choose the nearest category and say so in the description.

SIZES · WHAT THE NUMBERS MEAN

From #14 AWG to 1000 MCM

American Wire Gauge runs backwards: a smaller number is a larger conductor, so #14 is the smallest common branch-circuit size and 4/0 is far heavier. Above 4/0 the industry switches to circular mils, written MCM or kcmil, and sizes move upward instead of backward: 250, 300, 350, 400, 500, 600, 750 and 1000 MCM.

For a review, the size on its own is not enough. A 500 MCM aluminium conductor and a 500 MCM copper conductor are different materials with different applications, and a 500 MCM THHN and a 500 MCM XHHW-2 have different insulation systems. Send the size with the type, the metal and the voltage rating, and the picture is complete.

FORMATS

The shapes surplus wire arrives in

Format affects freight more than it affects value. A sealed 1000 ft reel is loaded as a reel; a coil is carried by hand; a partial spool of small gauge goes in a box with six others.

  • Full factory reels — banded, tagged, wrapped, the easiest material to review and to move.
  • Partial reels — opened, with tag footage or a measured estimate of what remains.
  • Coils and spools — small gauge building wire, often boxed or bagged.
  • Cut lengths and tails — measured individually, grouped by size.
  • Boxed cartons — original packaging with the manufacturer label intact.
  • Palletized mixed lots — assorted reels from one project or one crib.
  • Recovered cable — pulled and removed, reviewed as recovered material, not as new surplus.
  • Unidentified material — no tag, no print; reviewed as unidentified, never assumed.

INVENTORY SUBMISSION · RESPONSE BY EMAIL OR PHONE

Send one reel tag to start

A single legible tag is usually enough to begin a review. Add photographs of the jacket legend and the reel, and say how many pieces are in the lot.

01 Who is selling

Replies and any offer are sent to this address.

02 Where the wire is

Five digits, so we can judge freight distance.

03 What the material is

Packaging format
04 Notes and photographs

Up to five files, 5 MB each: one wide shot of the reels, one of each reel tag, one close-up of the jacket printing, and anything damaged. Larger sets can be emailed to saleselectricalbuyers@gmail.com after you submit.

Submitting this form does not create an offer, a contract or an obligation to purchase. If you would rather talk first, call +1 (614) 715-3047.

Not sure which category your material belongs to?

Describe it in plain language and attach a photograph of the jacket print. Classification is part of the review, not a prerequisite for it.
