MC and AC Cable Buyers in New York
Metal-clad and armored cable arrives on site in coils and short reels, gets installed fast, and leaves behind the partial coils nobody wants to inventory. We review MC and AC cable in copper and aluminum conductor constructions, including health-care facility and hospital-grade variants.
WHAT WE REVIEW
MC / AC cable: what we review
MC cable carries a metallic sheath with an insulated equipment grounding conductor, while AC cable uses a bonding strip and the armor itself as the ground path. Both are commonly stocked in 12/2, 12/3, 10/2, 10/3 and larger multi-conductor configurations, with or without a reduced ground, and in aluminum armor for corrosion resistance. The type and conductor count are printed on the jacket or on a tag inside the coil, and that print is what a review reads first.
Coils are harder to measure than reels: there is no flange tag to read, and a coil that looks large may be a hundred feet of 12/3 or four hundred feet of 14/2. We ask for weight and an approximate length, and we quote on the basis you give us. If a coil has been dragged across a slab and the armor is crushed or spiralled open, photograph that damage — it changes what the material is.
Formats accepted for review
- Factory-sealed coils in original wrap
- Opened coils with most of the length remaining
- Short cut lengths from a completed floor
- Reels of larger multi-conductor MC
- Aluminum-armored cable for corrosive environments
What to send
- The type print on the jacket: MC, AC, HCF, and the conductor count
- Copper or aluminum conductors, visible at a cut end
- Armor condition — crushed, spiralled or water-logged coils
- Approximate length, from the coil weight or the original packaging label
No offer is made until someone has read the jacket legend or the reel tag. If neither survives, the material is still reviewable — it is simply reviewed as unidentified, and the outcome reflects that.

Send mc / ac cable for review
Photographs of the reel tag and jacket legend are the fastest route to a review. Approximate footage is acceptable; a stated method is better than a confident guess.

MC / AC cable — questions sellers ask
Answers describe how material is reviewed. They are not an offer, a price or a commitment to purchase.
Do you accept opened coils of MC cable?
Yes, provided the remaining length is described and the armor is intact. State the approximate length and how you arrived at it — original coil size minus installed length is a reasonable estimate and we will treat it as an estimate.
Is crushed or bent armor a problem?
It affects the review rather than disqualifying the lot. Crushed armor may not be usable for new installation, but it is still described honestly and reviewed on that basis. Photograph the damaged sections clearly.
Can MC cable with aluminum conductors be submitted?
Yes. Note that the conductors are aluminum and give the size and count. Aluminum MC is less common in branch work but appears in larger feeder configurations and in corrosive environments.
WHO SELLS THIS MATERIAL
Where this material usually comes from
Most lots arrive from one of four places: a contractor closing out a job, a plant replacing equipment, a distributor clearing slow stock, or a demolition project releasing cable legitimately. Each is reviewed on the same facts.
