VFD · 1kV · SHIELDED · 3 CONDUCTOR + SYMMETRIC GROUNDS
VFD Cable Buyers in New York
Variable frequency drive cable is a specialised, expensive construction: three power conductors, symmetric grounding conductors, an overall shield and a 1 kV rating, built to keep drive output noise out of everything nearby. It is bought in project quantities and left over in project quantities.
WHAT WE REVIEW
VFD cable: what we review
Because VFD cable is ordered to a drive schedule, surplus usually arrives in a small number of part numbers with meaningful footage on each. That is good news for a review: fewer variables. Send the part number from the reel tag, the conductor size, the footage and a photograph of the jacket print, and the identification is essentially complete.
We review VFD cable in 14 through 4/0, in three- and four-conductor configurations, with XLPE or EPR insulation and either a foil or braid shield. Cable that has been pulled through a drive installation and removed is reviewed as recovered material, and cable with crushed shield or torn jacket is described as damaged rather than quietly mixed into a clean lot.
Formats accepted for review
- Sealed reels in original packaging
- Partial reels with tag footage
- Cut lengths from a completed drive installation
- Mixed sizes from a multi-drive project
What to send
- Manufacturer part number on the reel tag
- Conductor size and count, plus ground configuration
- Shield type and whether the shield is intact at the ends
- Jacket print showing the 1 kV rating and any approval marks
No offer is made until someone has read the jacket legend or the reel tag. If neither survives, the material is still reviewable — it is simply reviewed as unidentified, and the outcome reflects that.

Send vfd cable for review
Photographs of the reel tag and jacket legend are the fastest route to a review. Approximate footage is acceptable; a stated method is better than a confident guess.

VFD cable — questions sellers ask
Answers describe how material is reviewed. They are not an offer, a price or a commitment to purchase.
Why is VFD cable reviewed separately from tray cable?
Because it is a different product with a different use and a different market. Shielded drive cable carries a premium for its construction; treating it as ordinary tray cable would misprice it, and treating ordinary tray cable as VFD cable would not survive inspection.
Do short cut lengths of VFD cable have any value?
Sometimes, as motor leads for a specific drive. Lengths below a few dozen feet are harder to place and are usually reviewed together with a larger lot rather than on their own.
What if the part number is gone but the jacket print remains?
The jacket print is sufficient in most cases. Photograph it in a continuous line so the type, size, voltage and shield description all appear in one image.
WHO SELLS THIS MATERIAL
Where this material usually comes from
Most lots arrive from one of four places: a contractor closing out a job, a plant replacing equipment, a distributor clearing slow stock, or a demolition project releasing cable legitimately. Each is reviewed on the same facts.
